Do Detox Foot Pads Work?

Detox foot pads are natural detoxifying patches that are worn on the soles of the feet. The foot pads are said to draw harmful toxins from the body. People that use them find they are reliable solutions for detox that literally help them feel better. Others are more skeptical and are holding out for scientific tests. Yet like many alternative, folk, or ancient healing practices, the natural ingredients contained in the pads do have healthful properties that support the use of these patches for detoxifying purposes. Since they're non-invasive and all-natural, they're worth considering since we come into contact with toxins and pollutants every day.

Detoxifying Agents
Some people drink teas that help cleanse the body; others, of course, prefer to wear detox foot pads at night when they sleep. These adhesive patches are places on the feet where they are said to draw toxins from the body. Just as many toxins may be released through the sweat, the ingredients appear to draw toxins from the body. Overtime, the body achieves a natural detox. One pad isn't enough to rid the body of its toxins, but people do find that a healthful regimen that includes foot pads which enhance the way they feel.

Why Should We Detoxify?
In a way, the body is always working to detoxify itself. The liver and kidneys, for instance, work to rid toxins from our bodies. While the best way to promote a clean body is to eat right, we still can't help coming into contact with pollutants and toxins or heavy metals that may be contained the air we breathe or water we drink. Detoxifying the body is an ancient practice. The ingredients used in many detox foot pads have their roots in ancient Eastern medicine. Alternative medical practitioners routinely prescribe these natural healing remedies and even Western Medicine is trying to catch up with the ancient knowledge. For instance, many of today's medications are based on old folk remedies based upon herbs.

What Ingredients are in Detox Foot Pads?
When you purchase detox foot pads, look for products with no fillers. Some of the most popular foot pads include ingredients like oak vinegar, bamboo vinegar, eucalyptus, and Chitosan (shellfish) to name a few. Many also contain a plant called Houttuynia cordata which is native to Asia, but now grows in countries like the U.S. This particular plant's Japanese name literally means 'poison-blocking plant.' Like many folk and alternative health remedies, foot pad remedies and ingredients may vary. It's always ideal to purchase from reputable sellers that list their ingredients; you can then research each ingredient to better understand its efficacy.

Detox foot pads work for many people who use them regularly. The idea is to try them to see how you feel after using them for a prescribed period of time. Typically, one night won't result in noticeable results though you are likely to see the tell-tale brown staining on the pad after a single night of use telling you that they are working. If you are in search of a non-invasive--something you needn't digest, for instance--these foot pads may be the detox agent you've been waiting for.

Homemade Clay Toothpaste Recipe

Commercial toothpaste has poisonous fluoride in it, along with other ingredients you don't want to put in your body including:

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate: a toxic skin irritant used in degreasers and gives toothpaste the foaming action

Triclosan: A chemical used for its antibacterial properties. The EPA has registered it as a dangerous pesticide.

FD&C Color Dyes: These dyes are harmful to humans and have repeatedly come under scrutiny.

So what do you do? Besides using my detox foot pads to get rid of the chemicals and toxins floating around in your body, You make your own toothpaste!

There are so many options to make your own natural toothpaste. The basic baking soda and peroxide (or just plain baking soda) recipe has been met with claims that it is too abrasive for your teeth and wears down the enamel.

I made a coconut oil, baking soda, stevia and peppermint oil toothpaste and used that for a while, but I agree, it just didn't suit me like I wanted it to.

I used activated charcoal powder for awhile but it didn't leave my mouth tasting fresh like I wanted. It sure got them white, though! And I still use it to whiten my teeth every so often.

I have found a bentonite clay toothpaste recipe that I love. It doesn't foam, it has a texture that you have to get used to, but by golly, it works!

Homemade Clay Toothpaste Recipe

  • 1/2 cup bentonite clay (I get mine at Mountain Rose Herbs)
  • about 1 cup boiling hot water (You may need a little more or a little less depending on the desired consistency.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Himalayan Pink Salt (or other real sea salt)
  • Peppermint oil to taste (I usually do more than 25 drops)
  • Stevia powder (I use the "Better Stevia Now Organic" brand in its concentrated form and don't measure, maybe about 1/2 teaspoon? You also can use liquid stevia or even xylitol if you have some handy....) you can add it until you like the taste
Instructions:

1. Mix the clay and salt into a bowl.
2. Add boiling water and mix well with a fork.
3. Add Stevia and Peppermint oil to taste.

4. Mix well. You want a somewhat thick consistency but not too thick. Too runny and it won't hold up on your toothbrush.

I put my toothpaste in a pint sized wide mouth canning jar with a plastic screw lid. I keep it in my bathroom and dip my toothbrush in it. Since I am the only one using it in my household, I don't mind if I "double dip" my toothbrush. If I were making it for multiple members of my house hold I would probably have some type of plastic spoon to use to scoop a little out and onto my toothbrush to prevent cross contamination (our mouths are dirty and germy, and so are our toothbrushes!).

Have you tried making this clay toothpaste? How do you like it? Do you do it a little differently? What do you use to brush your teeth? Post in the comments below.

How To Make Homemade Fermented Sauerkraut

In an excerpt from an article by Natural News:

(NaturalNews) Sauerkraut combines the health benefits offered by all cruciferous vegetables (a category which includes cauliflowers and brussel sprouts as well as cabbage) with the probiotic advantages derived from the fermentation process.

Cabbage offers a host of health benefits. It is high in vitamins A and C. Studies have shown the cruciferous vegetables can help lower cholesterol levels. Cabbage also provides a rich source of phytonutrient antioxidants. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties, and some studies indicate it may help combat some cancers. However, this already helpful vegetable becomes a superfood when it is pickled.

I have known for a long time the health benefits of eating fermented veggies, but it is very hard to find them in the store. You have to make them yourself.

I already make my own milk kefir and water kefir, and drink store-bought kombucha, but I have been missing out on the wonderful superfood filled with healthy gut bacteria.

So, I have been making my own recently. I purchased a fermenting crock -- mine is a 5 Liter Crock and sometimes I buy already shredded cabbage, and other times I just buy a couple heads of cabbage and chopped it or shred it myself. Sometimes I add in shredded carrots as well.

This time, I coarsely chopped up two heads of cabbage, put it in a mixing bowl and with my hands, squeezed it to release the juices. I squeezed for about 5 minutes and then my hands got tired so I was done.

Chopped cabbage in the fermenting crock

I then put the cabbage in the crock as shown in the picture.

At that point I make my brine. I don't measure or anything fancy. I previously saved some kefir whey (to use as a starter culture -- I don't have to use any starter culture but I prefer to).

I put about 1/4 cup whey in some warm water and about 1/8 cup Himalayan Pink Salt. I taste it to make sure that it tastes salty, and so then I pour the brine into the crock. The cabbage has to be underneath the liquid, so you have to make more brine (add more water and salt) until you can cover the cabbage. (I don't measure so I can't tell you how it should taste or how much liquid to put in, but mine tasted pretty salty). Some people add salt to the cabbage before squeezing it, I have done that before but I didn't do that this time.

The crock I have came with some weight stones, and I put them on top of the cabbage to keep it down under the brine.(these stones seem to mold easily so I clean them and scrub them before each use, and spray with vinegar and water and let dry completely).

Then, I set the crock on the counter and put the lid on. The lid sets in a rim that you fill with water so that it makes a perfect seal, air cannot get in, but any air bubbles inside can "burp" their way out.

This time I waited only one week. I filled the rim with water maybe twice during the week. Sometimes I wait 2 weeks, but I wanted my cabbage a little crunchier than normal, as I was splitting it with a friend of mine who has stomach issues, and needed more probiotics.

the finished product -- YUM!

I usually eat a couple tablespoons of sauerkraut with either lunch or dinner. I think it tastes amazing with meat -- ham especially! I also eat it with Hebrew National hot dogs with a little ketchup (I haven't fermented ketchup successfully yet but I will try in the future!)

Now, you try!

Turmeric, Dysmenorrhea, and Toxins

The first two words in the title are definitely not common words used in everyday language, but if I said, an Indian spice, and painful menstrual cramps, you'd know what I am talking about. Let’s talk about how these three things are related…

Recently I received a review from a lady who said that after using our Detox Pads two days before her menstrual cycle, she had almost no discomfort.
“I decided to try the detoxifyingfoot pads to see if I would notice any positive results after one night. At the time I was fighting off a cold and my voice sounded pretty deep. After using the pads for one night I noticed a reduction in swelling in my lymph glands behind my ears and my voice was back to normal. A pleasant but also unexpected result after two days of using them, and having no idea my cycle was right around the corner, was that my cramps were practically non-existent! I had no discomfort for the duration of the period. That was a great surprise!”  Lynn, Utah, USA
Why didn’t she experience dysmenorrhea or painful cramps? How are removing toxins and menstrual cramps related? We know from our last post that reflexology can dramatically improve premenstrual symptoms, so let’s keep up the good news and help either yourself or a loved one have less pain during that familiar cramping week.
Several articles online mention how environmental factors affect the female reproductive system negatively1 . One article listed a few things that would be helpful to avoid2 :
-Stress
-Toxic cosmetics or cleaning products
-Plastics, canned food (most cans are lined with BPA), etc.
-Toxic tampons and pads (Many people say their cramps went away after using a menstrual cup)
By limiting the use of harmful products, and removing toxins with the foot pads, it’s no wonder that Lynn had “practically non-existent” cramps. Another tool for relieving pain in many areas of the body including the abdominal area is turmeric3 . It is native to India and has amazing properties.
“Turmeric has been found to have many useful therapeutic qualities, including: anti-oxidant, anti-tumoral, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-hepatotoxic, anti-hyperlipidemic, and insect repellent effects.
Much recent research has been devoted to the beneficial qualities of Turmeric. It has been shown to
have more DNA protective qualities than the antioxidants beta carotene and vitamin E.
Traditional Chinese Medicine has found Turmeric useful for pains in the abdomen, liver, stomach, and
chest.”

There are many recipes for how to incorporate turmeric in your everyday diet online. As always, research for yourself anything new that you feel might help your situation and consult with people you trust.
Here’s to less monthly pain!

Differences Between the Flu and a Cold and how to Stay Healthy

So many people don't understand the difference between a cold or the flu (influenza). And many times they say they have the stomach flu, which is misleading. When you have "the flu" you don't have stomach symptoms (diarrhea or vomiting). Vomiting and diarrhea are most always caused by either food poisoning or a stomach bug/virus, NOT a flu virus.

Here is a chart that shows different symptoms for colds, the flu and allergies, to help you identify what one you may have. They are not always accurate, but for the most part this chart is a good guide. But in order to be 100% positive in identifying the flu, you need to go to the doctor and get tested.

But until then, the best ways to prevent the flu are:

1. Get adequate vitamin D3 and K2
2. Get plenty of rest
3. Drink plenty of liquids
4. Eat well (one of the best things for boosting your immune system is fermented food products like cultured sauerkraut, kefir, kombucha, kimchi, etc).
5. Detox those toxins out of your body (yes, my detox foot pads!)

If you get the flu, here are some tips:

1. Homemade bone broth. This is important. Store bought broth will not do the trick. You will be amazed at the healing properties
2. My detox foot pads again, of course!
3. Vitamin C and Zinc.
4. Elderberry syrup
5. Manuka honey
6. Essential oils (for viruses and colds and flus I recommend lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus, frankincense and cloves -- be sure you use them properly)
7. SLEEP!

Feel good this season. Stay health and keep your family healthy. Best wishes for an amazing holiday season.

Your Feet: The Gateway to Detoxifying Your Body

Maintaining a high level of health can provide benefits that are both seen and felt. Even leading a healthy lifestyle, however, will not keep toxins from building in the body. These enter into the body as food and drink are consumed and as air from the toxic world is breathed into the lungs.

The human body was made in a way that would allow it to remove many of the toxins that it would come into contact with naturally. However, in today's toxic world, the sheer volume of toxins that are in the environment can quickly overpower the body and cause toxic buildup. Those toxins remain trapped in the tissues of the body, as well as in the liver until it is able to remove them naturally. Using detox foot patches can help to speed up the process of detoxification and allows for an increased level of health.

When research is done, it will be seen that there are a lot of detox foot pad reviews. Some of those reviews are going to be from those who have actually used the pads to their benefit. There are also going to be skeptics, who are quick to debunk the benefits of detox foot pads. In many cases, those skeptics are doing nothing more than parroting flawed information. The beneficial reviews are from those who have used these detoxifying pads for themselves or who have proven through scientific research that toxins are indeed removed from the body when they are used.

Why Are the Feet Targeted?

The feet are often used in natural health to target various parts of the body. This is seen in many natural practices, including acupuncture and acupressure. Even the modern-day practice of reflexology is based on principles that the reflex points in the foot correspond with the workings and other structures that are elsewhere in the body. Does it work? According to a clinical trial which was referenced on the Victorian Government Better Health Channel website, a 62% reduction in premenstrual symptoms was seen in women who used reflexology (Source: http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Reflexology#). Obviously, the foot is a gateway to many other parts of the body and using detox foot pads can help to remove the toxins that are trapped in the tissues in those other areas.

Choosing Detox Foot Patches

There are a variety of options that are available for detox foot patches. It is necessary to look at the benefits that they provide and to choose a high quality product that contains the natural ingredients which will help the body detoxify. By using these patches regularly, various toxins can be removed from the body, including chemicals, metabolic waste, parasites, cellulite and heavy metals. The effects of those toxins on the body are undisputed. Various health issues, from acne to cancer have been associated with toxicity in the body. By taking the simple step of applying a detox foot pad to the bottom of the foot, the body can be free of those toxins.

Creating Resistance - Using Cinnamon For The Flu?

This picture, though handmade, has a lot of truth to it. We’ve been discussing in the last two posts some of the things we are up against every day and how detoxing using our foot pads can dramatically improve health.
So why can’t we just get the flu shot and forget about it? Sounds like the easy answer. I’m not going to write about whether or not you should get the flu shot. That is a personal decision and one that I hope is paired with researching the pros and cons.
What I will discuss today are some of the “Lost Remedies” that date back to the 1800s that are starting to show their face again.
In the book, “Dissolving Illusions” by Suzanne Humphries, MD and Roman Bystrainyk, 2013, p. 427-8, they discuss remedies for the flu that date back to 1899.
In 1899 Dr. C. G. Grant observed that cinnamon protected from malaria. He recommended it for intestinal problems, typhoid, and influenza.
Cinnamon is recommended as an internal antiseptic by Dr. C. G. Grant (British Medical Journal). When in Ceylon he discovered that persons working in cinnamon gardens seemed to be immune to malaria. On the trial he found it valuable in gastroenteritis, recurrent boils, and, he thinks, in typhoid fever. He was astonished by its wonderful influence in influenza, and earnestly recommends its free use by others.
In 1907 Dr. Ross reported on his use of cinnamon oil for 16 years to help patients quickly recover from influenza. Weeks of illness from the flu were reduced to three or four days.
Ross states that for nearly sixteen years he has employed cinnamon in various forms in treating this [influenza] disease, but for many years now he has always employed the oil of Ceylon cinnamon bark…We of all of us have heard only too often of bad cases of influenza where the unhappy patients have been confined to their beds or their rooms for a fortnight, three weeks, a month, or even longer…he has invariably treated influenza with cinnamon, his patients have generally been perfectly fit to return to their avocations, whatever they may have been, within three or four days, and that in no single case has a person suffering from influenza been on his hands for more than a week.” *
*”Cinnamon Oil in the treatment of Influenza,” The Kansas City Medical Index-Lancet, vol. XXVIII, no. 1, January 1907, p. 92.
Dr. Humphries later states, “It is difficult to know exactly why cinnamon was so helpful, but today we do know that it possesses many beneficial properties, it is an antioxidant, and contains vitamins A and C and minerals like zinc, potassium, magnesium, and manganese.” p.429
Why can’t we find a medical doctor like these today?! That’s a discussion for another day. In the meantime, create resistance easily by purifying your body with detox pads while you sleep, get sufficient rest, and don’t be too stressed out about the flu. Try cinnamon as they did in the past, the side effects are better health and resistance.
Here’s to a healthy “Flu Season”!

What Are The Health Benefits of Using Detox Foot Pads?

detox foot pad testing in action
The body was made in such a way that it can handle toxins. It is able to cleanse itself through natural processes associated with the liver, skin and breath. Unfortunately, the level of toxins that is seen in most parts of the world overwhelms the natural defenses of the body and toxic buildup occurs. This is an issue that can cause sickness and death. Leading a healthy life can help to keep toxic exposure from overwhelming the body. For the toxins that already exist, detox foot pads can be used.

The benefits of using detox foot pads are scientifically proven. Not only is the evidence visually available on the used pad, it has been tested through various other methods. Hair analysis tests that were given before and after detox foot pad use made clear that it reduce toxins in the body. Additional testing which support the use of detox foot pads include scientific analysis of the used pads through independent labs. There have also been tests which measure the levels of alpha brain waves before and after the use of detox foot pads. What are the specific benefits that can be expected through the use of this detox product?

Detoxification - Although this may seem like an obvious benefit, it is one that needs to be considered. The toxins that exit the body will be evident on the pad in various colors. Those colors include green, brown, gray, red and black. As you continue to use these pads regularly, the color will fade as you have fewer toxins to be removed. Less toxins in the body means better health.

Improved Circulation - The circulatory system is responsible for transporting blood through the body. Detox foot pads help to improve circulation, which increases oxygen levels in your body tissues. It also helps those tissues to be better nourished.

Improved Immune System - Another circulatory system in the body is the lymphatic system. This is part of the immune system and is vital for overall health. The lymphatic system removes toxins from the body. As toxicity increases in the body, the lymphatic system can get overwhelmed. When detox foot pads remove excess toxins from the body, it allows the lymphatic system to function properly and maintain the health of the body.

Better Sleep - The body spends the time during sleep revitalizing itself and getting ready for the new day. A lack of restful sleep causes symptoms, including daytime drowsiness, stress and depression. Removing excess toxins from the body helps to improve sleep and improves mental abilities and physical energy.

There are many other health benefits that are available when detox foot pads are used. It improves every function of the body, providing some benefits that are not fully evident at first. Those benefits include better metabolism, blood cell development and an overall improvement of physiological processes. Detox foot pads will provide these benefits when they are used on their own. When used along with an overall healthy lifestyle, the benefits will be more pronounced. It is a simple product, used on an often overlooked part of the body that provides excellent benefits.

Cancer, Cancer, Everywhere!

In this article from Dr. Mercola about cancer, he gives us these statistics:
  • In the early 1900s, one in 20 people developed cancer
  • In the 1940s, one in 16 people developed cancer
  • In the 1970s, it was one in 10
  • Today, it’s one in three!

So why is cancer so prevalent now? I don't know the answer, but I can guess. Here are my guesses to the cause:

1. Toxins everywhere. In our food, in our clothes, in the air we breathe, even in our drinking water. In our makeup, shampoo, soaps, lotions, cleaning products, etc.

2. Our food supply. We have so much processed food, GMO food sprayed with Roundup that has been proven to cause cancer. Chemicals and neurotoxins have been approved by our FDA so food manufacturers can use them to get us addicted and hooked onto their food, so we eat more and buy more. Also, factory farmed meats injected with hormones, antibiotics and fed a soy and corn diet (GMO) are NOT healthy. And, we have so many fast food restaurants these days, convenience has taken over personal responsibility.

3. STRESS. This is an important one, I think. We don't take the time to just relax. Even 100 years ago, while people may have physically worked harder than us, once they were done, they recharged. They slept while the sun was down and knew the importance of rest.

And people around me wonder why I am so adamant about my choice to eat REAL food, to make my own personal care products, use homemade cleaning products, and to avoid situations where I will be exposed to toxins.

I am worried about our future. I can't imagine things can get much worse than they are now, and yet that is the direction they are heading.

I had my mom die of cancer. I had a brother who had cancer, but thankfully is in remission. Cancer is real. We need to do what we can to avoid it at all costs. Keep our bodies healthy and detoxed.

That is why using my detox foot pads are such an important part of cancer prevention.

Right now, our "doctors" and scientists are no closer to finding a cure for cancer. With all the money spent on research, death rates ARE falling, but incident rates are rising.

You can stop this -- at least for yourself.

1. Detox your body
2. Eat REAL food - avoid processed and GMO foods
3. Get enough rest
4. Use only certified organic personal care items (or make your own)
5. Use organic / natural cleaning products (or make your own)

Good luck in your journey to health.

Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix - No MSG

Many people ask me quite often for my Homemade Ranch Dressing recipe. I copied and pasted a long time ago from a blog I read, however I do not recall where I got it from (if you know who the owner of the recipe is, please let me know so I can cite them, and thank them!) This is what happens when you read so many blogs!

I LOVE ranch dressing but cannot stand how adulterated and toxic the ranch dressing from the store is. So, I am grateful that I found this recipe, and hope you enjoy it, too.

This is my go-to recipe for fresh veggies, salads, etc. I use an old mayonnaise jar to store the dry ingredients, and I make it as I need it.

Photo taken from Google Images

Here goes:

RANCH DRESSING MIX

This is a dry mix you keep on hand and mix when you need some dip or salad dressing

1 C. dried minced onions
7 Tbs. parsley flakes
4 Tbs. sea salt
1 Tbs. garlic powder

For Dip: mix 1 Tbs. dry mix to 1 C. sour cream, plain or greek yogurt, or mayo (or a combination of them)

For Salad Dressing: mix 2 Tbs. dry mix to 1 C. mayo and 1 C. butter milk or kefir. You can thin it out with cream, kefir or even milk to get desired consistency.

Stress Can Kill and Wreak Havoc on Your Body

Stress CAN kill, but more likely it will just make you feel sick all the time with chronic issues. I know this first hand, and I want to tell you my story.

I don't know whether I just don't handle stress well, or that I just have an excessive amount of stress in my life with no downtime. From moving across country recently, working 12+ hours a day, every day, cooking homemade natural foods for my family, helping take care of my stepmom who has dementia, making homemade products, running errands and not being able to sleep at night, my daily life is anything but calm. Hectic, chaotic are more appropriate terms.

But the stressful events in my life started as a child: the death of my mother when I was 2, the remarriage of my dad to my stepmom (where I immediately had 2 new siblings) the deaths of my grandparents when I was 5, and certain abuse situations as I was growing up that I don't want to get into right now.

And during high school I had activities planned from 6am to 9pm EVERY DAY OF THE SCHOOL WEEK and then chores, homework, babysitting, church functions, etc every weekend. Basically, I had no time to relax.

And college was not much different. I worked full time (40-50 hours per week) while going to school full time (18 units a semester). And so it went on and on. Never a dull moment, but dull moments were what I craved. I dream about the perfect vacation for me: Hiding for a week straight in a dark cave (with a light of course) and a stack of books, with no one to bother me. Seriously. That is my dream vacation! Well, it could be a hotel room, as long as no one bothers me.

As an adult turning 38 this month, I look back on my life and can't think of any time when I was able to just relax and de-stress. And it has all been catching up to me.

Here are my symptoms:

  • Extreme fatigue -- the only thing that keeps me going is my sense of responsibility and knowing that thing won't get done if I don't do them.
  • Insomnia -- I can practically guarantee that between the hours of 1am and 4am I will be awake for at least an hour or two, not being able to get back to sleep. And, if I do fall back asleep, I will wake up around 5:30am and not be able to sleep in at all, even on weekends. Which is fine since I start work at 6:30am.
  • Weight Gain -- so this one is a bit iffy.. I am not overweight, but in the past 7 years I have NOT been able to get rid of the excess fat in my mid section, no matter what I do. impossible. Exercise, low carb dieting, HCG, etc. I have about 7-10 lbs that I want to get rid of to reach the ideal weight I feel comfortable with. I eat awesome -- my diet would make anyone on a whole foods diet proud. But even cutting out all sugar, I am not seeing results.
It is extremely hard to have fatigue all day long, and have gone to doctors quite a few times complaining of this fatigue, after blood tests to rule out everything from CFS, FMS and Epstein Barr, and have them tell me I am depressed, and want me to take anti-depressants. (I am the least depressed person I know!).

I finally went to an integrative medicine doctor a few weeks back, who is also an MD. He ran some extremely thorough tests on me and diagnosed me with the following:

1. RT3 hypothyroidism
2. Moderate adrenal fatigue
3. Weakened immune system

All of these are related to the big jackpot test he gave me: EXCESSIVELY HIGH CORTISOL LEVELS DUE TO STRESS!

My cortisol levels skyrocket at night when they are supposed to be declining. No wonder I can't sleep. And no wonder my adrenals never get to rest and recuperate, because there is no time for them to. I am running on adrenaline all day long and at night I am unable to restore my energy. So now I am on pills to decrease those cortisol levels at night which is actually helping me sleep better. And I am taking other supplements to support my RT3 thyroid hormone, so that I CAN LOSE THAT DARN BELLY FAT! There HAD to be a reason, and I get so upset at all those other doctors who misdiagnosed me. I KNEW something was off kilter in my body.

Now I get to go through treatment -- I am able to sleep a bit more (after only a few weeks) and I am already seeing improvements. If I was able to accomplish all that I have been accomplishing, when I am not 100%, then imagine all I can accomplish when I AM 100%? Well, that is kind of a catch 22 though, because one of the ways I need to heal is to learn to relax and take it easy and ENJOY life. So with that extra energy I am starting to get -- I can do things I want to do, like walks and hikes with my dog, gardening, etc. Those hobbies can be fun again for me!

So the point of all of this? No matter how well you take care of yourself, there still can be things wrong with you, especially if you have a high stress life and no down time. So keep searching for the answers if you already are living healthy and eating good foods and not putting toxins in your body.

And of course, use my detox foot pads to help you get on your way to a healthy lifestyle!

Processed Foods --- Natural Foods -- Learning is a Process

I remember back when I used to prepare meals out of a box, packaged dinners, frozen dinners, and store bought desserts. And I thought I was doing well for "cooking at home" instead of going out to eat at a restaurant. The commercial Yoplait yogurt I bought was good for me, right?

And then I realized there were certain ingredients I wanted to avoid, no matter what. They included MSG and Aspartame. So I started reading labels. And that meant that there were fewer "packaged" foods for me to purchase and make. No more Rice A Roni, Hamburger Helper and Stuffing mix for me.

And then I realized that there were SO many ingredients that hide MSG, like autolyzed yeast extract, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, maltodextrin, natural flavors, etc. Holy cow. What I once thought was healthy, was SO NOT HEALTHY!

And this was before I even realized how bad store bought milk was for you! (Well, I had switched to organic milk but still didn't know the extent of how bad it is for you).

I then started to make things from scratch. I was making homemade yogurt, I was making homemade bread. I was making beans and rice, and seasoning it. I cut out all soda pop, and white bread. No more sugar cereals, either. And dessert was for special occasions only.

Eventually I graduated to using raw milk (man, I was missing out all those years! This stuff is DELICIOUS!) I have made my own butter and I make my own raw milk kefir every day. I have even started buying grassfed beef, pastured eggs and poultry.

The reason why I am explaining these steps that I have taken to get to where I am now, is that it would have been so hard to go from eating packaged foods directly to making my own bone broth and fermented vegetables (which is where I am now). So don't despair. Just slowly make changes in your life, and eventually you will look back like I do, and wonder what you were thinking!

Learning is a process. It isn't like a light switch where you just flick it on.

And while I don't have any chronic health issues related to my diet, I still have issues. Sure, I am pretty healthy, and I don't get sick much. But I can't sleep well at night and I am under continuous stress all the time. Those issues result in a myriad of other problems that are created, which I am currently dealing with. I can't wait to report on that in my next blog post!

And all the while, I feel pretty well detoxed thanks to my detox foot pads. You should try them. No matter where you are on your journey to health, the detox foot pads will help you.

Purify Your Body Detox Foot Pads Ingredients and The Benefits

Many people ask me about what the specific ingredients do in my foot pads for detox. Let's start by sharing what my ingredients are.

Detox Foot Pad Ingredients:

  • Oak Vinegar, 5%
  • Bamboo Vinegar, 16%
  • Tourmaline, 10%
  • Houttyunia Cordata, 7%
  • Eucalyptus, 22%
  • Chitosan, 10%
  • Agicarus Mushroom, 20%
  • Saururus Chinensis, 10%
The foot pads are 5 grams each, and the ingredients make up the whole foot pad. There are absolutely no fillers. Common fillers to watch out for are Dextrin, Vegetable Fiber and Cornstarch. They all are basic starch, that, while it has some absorbing properties, it is really a cheap filler that decreases the potency of the foot pad. I use chitosan as an absorber, and it absorbs over 400x its weight in impurities and toxins, so there is no need for a cheap filler, and no need for me to promote it as an absorber.

Oak Vinegar. This vinegar is traditionally believed to improve blood circulation, which can lead to relief from fatigue, headaches, arthritis, and other chronic conditions.

Bamboo Vinegar. This is a higher end wood vinegar and a high quality pad will have more bamboo vinegar than oak vinegars. This ingredient helps pull the toxins through the lymph system.

Tourmaline. This is a mineral that emits far infrared heat and negative ions that work to relieve pain and inflammation, and help promote deep, restorative sleep.

Houttuyni Cordata. (also known as Dokudami). This is a plant that contains a variety of flavanoids and has extremely potent absorbent properties.

Eucalyptus. One thing that is very cool about eucalyptus is that if you planted a eucalyptus tree in a swamp area, it would pull out the water via its roots, and soon, the swamp would be dry. It sucks the moisture from the ground, and is extremely important in pulling the toxins through the body into the foot pads. This is the process of osmosis.

Chitosan. I mentioned earlier that chitosan (a shellfish fiber) can absorb up to 400x its weight in toxic matter. It is what is used many times during oil spills. They pour the chitosan on the surface of the water, and come back to scoop it up as it absorbs the oils and impurities.

Agaricus Mushroom. This mushroom is said to support normal immune function and to promote homeostasis. It is known to help balance blood sugar levels and alleviate allergies.

Saururus Chinensis. This plant is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Adrenal Fatigue? Rightly So!

I remember life getting pretty hectic starting in Junior High School. I woke up at 5:30am to deliver the papers from 2 paper routes. I then went to school, did homework, coached soccer, and did chores. I tried to get as much time with my friends as well. On weekends I usually had 3 babysitting gigs lined up, I was in such high demand (I was the oldest girl of 9 kids so parents loved the experience I had) sometimes families would throw their kids together and I would be watching 5-8 kids at a time.

I didn't have much down time.

Then high school came and my first class started at 6am, and I went to school until 2:45pm, then from 3-5 I had either band practice, soccer (I played varsity from my underclass years) or track. From 5-9pm I worked at a local 5 and dime store. Then I went home and did whatever homework and chores I had, and then went to bed.

And then college came. I ended up working full time (I was the marketing coordinator for a computer company in the Silicon Valley and had to travel a lot to do trade shows) while going to school full time (and by full time I mean 18 units a semester). I really didn't have much time for myself.

Now, in my late 30s I start work at 6:30am, and work 8 hours. I also have the commitments of my side business, www.purifyyourbody.com, and that takes about 2 hours a day.

Not to mention caring for my dogs, one of which is elderly and needs special meds and attention for his seizures. Oh, and I have a husband, too, and we all know husbands need a lot of care. And taking care of the household, errands to run, home cooked meals, and my garden.

Oh, and did I mention that I help take care of my stepmom, who has dementia? Us kids all chip in during the week to help my dad out. I take her Tuesday afternoons, and I feed my parents 2-3 times a week, to make sure they get home cooked healthy meals.

And, I make all my laundry detergent, toothpaste, lotion, cleansers, etc etc. And because my friends like it, they always ask me to make lotion for them, too.

And, I have 3 different callings at church, which take up my time as well.

Suffice to say, I am exhausted ALL THE TIME.

I have cut out all sugars in my diet (I did this last September and have been true to it). I have cut out most gluten as well. So I am healthier, but the energy is still not there.

I finally went to a naturopathic doctor and bingo: ADRENAL FATIGUE. The symptoms perfectly match what I am feeling.

And so this makes me feel a bit like a loser, and this is where I have to be a bit more kind to myself. I do everything I can think of to be healthy, and yet, I get diagnosed with something as a result of all the responsibilities I put on myself, knowing I can't handle all that stress and sometimes feel so overwhelmed.

I realize I try to fit so much in my schedule. I stress and worry a LOT. I don't sleep well. But all the things I do GOOD for myself: eat REAL whole foods, following mainly the Nourishing Traditions protocols, well, none of that matters if I am running on adrenaline EVERY DAY. My adrenals are shot.

I will know more when I get the rest of my bloodwork back next week. But this has to end. I can't keep up with it.

So... I am going to be treated for this, and I WILL OVERCOME IT. Then, I will have so much energy I am so excited to even think about it! :)

I also am going to start saying no more often. I have tried it a couple times and it FELT GREAT!

I am going to try to meditate more often, too. I have some awesome CDs from www.immrama.org that help elevate you to the theta state of relaxation. Can I do it? I don't know, but I sure am going to try. If nothing else, I am a very determined woman!

And, I will continue to use and promote my detox foot pads.

In fact, here are my detox foot pads from last night: I haven't been good at wearing them for a while, so I need to start up every day again...

They should have only a little bit of dark around the edges, which lets me know that my body is clean of toxins... but the accumulated toxins from the last time I wore them really are showing themselves!

I will continue to post and follow up about my adrenal fatigue battle. Mainly to document my experience, not that I think it is interesting to anyone else... :)

My Story of Amalgam Removal

So we all know how bad mercury is for us, and that our silver fillings in our mouth are 50% mercury. Over time and with every bite, they start leaking that toxic mercury into our mouths.

I knew that was what was happening to me, and while I didn't have acute mercury poisoning symptoms, I sure wasn't feeling my best.

I did some research which led me to DAMS which stands for dental amalgam mercury solution, and they are a non-profit organization that explain the process of safe amalgam removal. They also shared with me a list of safe dentists who understand the harm from removing the amalgams and replacing with composite fillings (many dentists will just drill, without worrying about the mercury dust that is being created... they will wear masks covering their nose and mouth, but won't care about you!). I went to a local natural dentist, and got some pricing. Wow! It was super expensive and I knew I couldn't justify spending that much (I had 7 amalgams in my mouth).

So, after researching, I went to my regular dentist and explained what I wanted... I wanted to wear a mask over my nose to not breathe in the vapors, and I wanted him to use a rubber dam (mostly used for root canals). He agreed.

I ended up doing it in 4 different steps... one quadrant of my mouth at a time. The upper right, the upper left, the lower right, and the lower left, about 2 months apart.

At each appointment I prepared myself for the mercury detox. Here is what I did:

1. I megadosed on Vitamin C a couple days before, and after.
2. I was taking chlorella supplements which is a well known heavy metal chelation agent.
3. I wore my detox foot pads DURING the process, and for a week straight afterward.

I have heard many stories of people who feel horrible after their amalgam removal. But with the measures that I took, I didn't feel bad at all.

However, I do have to tell you that there are some potential side effects you will want to know about.

The most major one is that the silver fillings actually are very good at not being sensitive (to hot, cold, acids)... but when you remove those fillings, the composites you replace them with are not so forgiving. You also run the risk of them drilling too close to your nerves and upsetting the nerve so it goes into a fit, and even can die as a result of the trauma (resulting in a necessary root canal).

That happened to me. I had two teeth in my upper left quadrant that were so sensitive I couldn't drink water at all if it was colder than room temperature. And it had to be through a straw. I couldn't for the life of me eat ice cream, or even pickles. It got to the point where I had to go back in to the dentist and see what they could do. They couldn't save the tooth and so I got a root canal, something I really didn't want.

But overall, I have a beautiful mouth now, you can't see any metal in it, and it is super healthy. I would definitely do it over again, as long as I could use the same precautions as I took.

200 Chemicals Found In Newborns

I wanted to write something about how effective the detox foot pads are for babies and young children. In fact, a test by an environmental group found more than 200 chemicals (on average!) in newborn umbilical cord blood.

The article states: "We know the developing fetus is one of the most vulnerable populations, if not the most vulnerable, to environmental exposure," said Anila Jacobs, EWG senior scientist. "Their organ systems aren't mature and their detox methods are not in place, so cord blood gives us a good picture of exposure during this most vulnerable time of life."

It is imperative that we detox our children, and my detox foot pads are a very good way to do it. The foot pads pull out heavy metals, chemicals and other toxins that you do not want your kids exposed to.

Some other ways to detox your kids are clay baths, green smoothies with chlorella in them, and getting them a lot of sunshine (without toxic sunscreen).

But, I think my foot pads are so much easier -- one single foot pad most likely covers their whole foot!

The benefits of my detox foot pads for children:

* One foot pad covers the whole foot, so it pretty much will help detox their whole body for a fraction of the cost of an adult!

* The foot pads help them sleep better, and we all know that well rested kids make mama happy!

* The foot pads have been proven to pull out the heavy metals that are so harmful to the kids' neurological development.

* There are no side effects known. (Allergens are: mushrooms and shellfish).

* It is easy to do, and much less expensive than other methods, and much less traumatic for the child. Many children see their parents using the foot pads and they want to, as well.

My detox foot patches are getting cleaner as the weeks progress

I am traveling, and what that normally means is bad food choices, stress and lack of sleep. All of these things put your body under extra duress, and many times sickness prevails -- you are in new environments with different strains of germs, your body is out of whack due to time zone changes, etc.

Last night, I wore 3 detox foot patches on each foot, for about 8 hours. This is my picture from this morning when I took them off:

I have teeny patches on the toes that are white... but I doubt they will ever become fully clean. My brain is so toxic, I have been told, hah! :)

However, on this trip I have been eating mostly gluten free, fully sugar free, and taking my vitamins. I also brought my diatomaceous earth and my french green clay to make a clay drink. I am proud of myself. I also didn't let flight delays and sitting for 4 hours at an airport get me down. So I did a lot better this time with my travels. (I am traveling for work so not as fun as if it were vacation!)

I have been better at wearing the foot pads more consistently, maybe 4-5 times per week vs. 2-3 times per week. So, I plan on continuing this, and hopefully there will be a time when the foot pads aren't even dark at all.

If you want a free sample of the detox foot pads, go ahead and email me on my contact us page at http://www.purifyyourbody.com and if you include your mailing address, I can send you some samples.
